bye bye los

I'm writing this on my 'phone' as I lie in bed... I don't have much to write of at this moment because it seems as though all my posts are the same... Cueva's are busy busy busy. not any time to chill, not much time to think about anything besides the day that lies ahead and how we make it through that one. BUT today (including last night and tomorrow morning) is different for one if us... Carlos!! I sent him away, on a brief get-a-way. he has been working so hard especially these weeks leading up to the missions team being here, as well as when they were here. everyone re-energizes differently... carlos' happens to be when he is alone... so off I sent him.

... well, I knew this would happen ... my eyes are slowly becoming smaller and smaller slits... time to call it a night...

I can't wait for the Missions Team from Liverpool to get here! I hear that there are 18 people coming but I didn't ever find out all 18! I can't wait to see who walks off the plane!!
I'm excited to see what God will do through them! I'm praying the weather holds out for them. typically Long Beach weather is pretty perfect, but this week (of course) it is suppose to be a little less than that. we'll see.
I've got a busy day ahead, hopefully it will make the waiting time go by more quickly!

... until the LCC missions team gets here! so exciting! I know how excited we are but can't imagine how the team feels. the support from LCC has meant so much to us as we've taken on this tremendous task that God has called us to. I'm anticipating God's hand at work as the team prepares to come. He will work in a mighty way and many lives will be changed!! thank you LCC for your prayers and support, thank you Norte for being our new church family (can't wait for the two of you to meet), and thank you God for showing Your love thru all these wonderful people you've put in our lives!!

this morning's meeting with Deb went really well. thank you to all that prayed for this meeting and Jackson. i don't think i can bottom line it but let me try ...

POSITIVE RE-ENFORCEMENT ... for every 1 negative action there needs to be 8 positive re-enforcements.
CONSEQUENCES ... both positive and negative
CONSISTENCY ... parenting is the hardest thing you'll ever do

these are just a few highlights. we will be working on making some behavior charts that will target the behavior with which they need help with along with ones that would be easy for them to gain 'a gold star' ... 'star' to be traded in for 'rewards'. there was so much more ... but you get the idea. please pray for perseverance on mine and carlos behave and that we (and them) have the strength and wisdom to endure. i know this isn't going to be an overnight change ... but we look forward to the best results. Deb was very encouraging. and we look forward to many changes around here.

very quick update

just wanted to pass along that carlos and i are meeting with a counselor tomorrow (wednesday) @ 9:30am PCT. she is one of the pastors at our church. jackson is doing much better ... he just has his moments (as all of us do ;) it's just in those moments that i have to learned how to deal.
